A Perfect Day in Hillcrest Village
We sat down to chat with Matthew Slutsky, the unofficial ambassador of Hillcrest Village and one of the friendliest people in the neighbourhood, to find out about his perfect day in the Village.
Matt told us his perfect day starts at 6:30 AM on a Saturday, which is enough evidence to prove that he really loves his neighbourhood because who else would get up that early on a day off?! His day begins at Rocket Cycle for a one-hour Ace-Rocky Ride and then right over to the Starbucks across the street for his first cup of coffee for the day.
You can’t just have coffee without a little something to accompany it so Matt walks a few stores over to the quaint Baker and Scone to pick up some of the best scones in the city for home. After enjoying breakfast on his third floor balcony, it’s time to hit up the farmers’ market at Wychwood Barns to grab some fresh produce for the week.
Remember how we said Matt is one of the friendliest people in the neighbourhood (maybe even the city…)? Well his perfect day includes saying hello to everyone he passes on the way to and from the farmers’ market. After a quick stop home to check on his garden and water the plants, it’s over to Roast Fine Foods for some great quality meats for a BBQ later that day.
A perfect day is incomplete without a little pampering and Matt knows this, so there’s definitely a mani-pedi for his lovely wife and a super pedi (with a foot massage) in store for Matt at his favourite salon in the neighbourhood. Oh, and a salad from CocoaLatte!
Then his nephew and niece come over for a stroll around the neighbourhood and some play time at Hillcrest Park. While playing with the youngsters at the park, Matt would chit chat with neighbours about real estate in the area (his area of expertise!). After the kids are tired out from playing at the park, Uncle Matt would definitely need a quick pick-me up! Over to ZaZa Espresso Bar for the best espresso in town before heading home to start the BBQ for a dinner party.
Matt’s most perfect day would end in the most perfect way for many of us – with ice cream! How lucky that Hillcrest Village residents are so close to Toronto favourite, Dutch Dreams?! And then it’s just talking the night away with friends and family over wine, cigars and scotch on the rooftop patio.
Sounds like the perfect day to us Matt – let us know when we can come over!
